Wandering Wednesday- Do you remember...

Do you remember that moment, maybe a month ago..... maybe 5 years ago. When you decided it was time, time for you to begin a blog. You didn't know if anyone would read it minus some people you recruited from your personal friends and maybe facebook friends. But you were going to do it! You were going to start it. Little did you know that was going to be the easiest step.

Now you have to pick out which site to have your blog on, so many options and really without knowing people who had used them, you were kinda of in the dark with choosing which one would best fit you. now you have your blog......

What's it going to be about? For most of us crafting and maybe some personal rants.

What's it going to look like?

How often will you actually get something posted on it?

Will people like it?

How will they find me, how will I get my name out there?

All of these and more including the dreaded question go through your head.......

Will anyone actually read it?!?!?!?!

Anyone who has a blog has been there. Even the company blogs lots of us follow, they didn't know whether it would be a huge waste of time or a really great chance to work more with their customers. None the less it can be scary, it can at times be overwhelming. But it can also be soo much fricking FUN!

So today I want to introduce you to someone I stumbled upon yesterday! She just had her blog up! There's two posts of her craft area! I of course was soo tickled pink that I got to be the first to leave a comment!! Hee hee

I'd like to ask that each and everyone one of you head over there and show her some "donkey love" for a lack of better words... hahah who am I kidding those words are frickin wonderful! Let her know I sent you over! Now she doesn't have any creations up yet, and hasn't done much on the design of her blog but don't let that stop you. She has two posts up and one of them is her room and I promise you it alone is a worthy reason to pop over there and take a peak! I mean after all who doesn't want to take a little peak into someones home.. hee hee

Tuesday Chit Chat

I want to talk to you all about something today................................ it's kind of an important discussion I feel as partners in this big virtual world we should discuss. We should be open and honest about it, hold nothing back....

Do you now have an image in your head of being in 9th grade health class and me holding a banana in my hands, getting ready to have a convo you'd later wish you never had to experience?????? hee hee

Have no fear it's nothing of the sort.

I need your options. I've posted a discussion before concerning which people like more picture or video tutorials and so forth and got some amazing feedback. So, I thought I'd bring another topic up for discussion that I'm interested in hearing opinions on.

Pictures. We all loves pictures. Whether their showing a fun projects, simple card or a full blown tutorial. We love them. My question to you is rather simple. Do you like posts that have alot of details and how to pictures? Or does it slow down your computer or what not. I have quite fast Internet and it never occurs to me not to put alot of pictures that are relatively important to show detail or the process of things. I know I post alot and large pictures, but does it really matter to you? Would it matter if there were less or if they were smaller? Does it make the page load any faster, (if you've noticed form my blog in comparison to others.)

Basically, what I'm asking is does it matter to you? I always try to post big pictures and as many pertain to showing what I feel people would like to see. But is that what you prefer? Also, if it nice or does it even matter to state in the title when something is a heavy photo post? Let's hear some opinions people. BEcause as always I'm a curious one and always want my blog to be most importantly user friendly to those who look at it on a computer, i-pad, nook, phone or whatever else you fancy people look at it on. hee hee (says the girl who has yet to get a cell phone.. hate those damn things and what they do to people.) Well that's a whole other post about me ranting about rude people and their phones and poor driving while using them... oppps there I go.. like I said staying off that topic.

I just use a lap top and or desk top, so I'm interested to hear what you all have to say concerning the above mentioned things, so spill it. Like it how it is and it works for you, or would prefer smaller or less photos? Share away!

Ohhhhh, and while on the topic of making blogs user friendly and fun for all, I'd love to hear everyone's biggest pet peeves when it comes to a blog. (yes even if I do it on mine), what really gets under your skin or drives you bonkers!

Where I've Been....

So, after a cute comment on today's Motivation Monday from Kory. I thought I'd share another "Craft Donkey" moment. Now those of you who know me know I'm wired like none other. Always singing, dancing and bouncing around. Along with this great amount of energy I have, (I'm often compared to a bouncy ball or 5 year old), I also have those moment of WTF WAS I THINKING! If you've followed me you've read some of them. Like the wrong car ordeal can be found here: http://craftdonkey.blogspot.com/2012/02/ot-for-good-laugh.html

Okay, so moving on, we all know I'm a bit spastic and sometimes with that spastic artist thing I get a bit.. um spacey. Yes spacey is a good word for it. So, I had Friday off of work as I'll be working this weekend for a garden show we're having here in town... yay me. No really I'm quite excited about this. I was asked to be there and it's a great honor.

Anyways, we'll see if I can stay on track here. This weekend was lovely here. I went around opening window in my house. Now anyone with a slightly older house knows that sometimes u have to give the window pane a little bump to get it to open. Right?................Right. So, I was going around giving them a little bump opening them up... can you see where this is going????

I get to the last window the one above the kitchen sink. I give it a tap, and it doesn't pop open so I give it another but this time.. I miss the window wooden piece and put my frickin wrist followed by the entire hand THROUGH THE FRICKIN WINDOW!!! I kid you not this crap happens to me all the time, well not with a window but this sorta stuff. I was ubber lucky I didn't cut my wrist! I had swelling for about 2 days where your veins are along the inside of your wrist but it has went down a bit and now doing okay. And serious I must have just hit it just right because I'm telling you I didn't ninja wack it. Just a little bump on the wood to get it to loosen.

So, after the initial shock was over..... here's the kicker...... I pulled the blinds all the way up to begin cleaning up all of the glass.  And this is the part if you weren't laughin already at my mighty ninja strength you will be now!

THE DAMN WINDOW WAS LOCKED!!!!!!! No wonder it didn't loosen open for me! Story of my life I tell you. Anywho, I laid low crafting letting my wrist heal up a bit from the swelling and specks of glass that had got minimal damage to the wrist.

This would be also why there was no class on Friday! lol I'll do it this Thursday night. Going to play with how to make a bare album, with fun things like craft paper, parchment paper and so forth!

Motivation Monday: Playing With Canvas

So, I mentioned last week I have been playing with some canvas pieces for one of our rooms. I've never done a canvas before and find it somewhat nerve racking to be honest with you. I mean it's in my house........... as decor. The great that about "art" is it's subjective to the person viewing it. We could both look at an amazing painting done by someone completely famous, I could hate it and you could see something in it you love. Like I said beauty is truly in the eye of the one looking at it. Okay, I changed that a bit, but oh well. So, I began this canvas project thinking I'd just mess around with 3 12x12 canvas pieces that I got on an awesome clearance. I t all began while looking at some pieces at Target and thinking, geesh really 60 bucks! I could do that for so much cheaper. If only I don't let it get into my head that people will be judging it. HAHAHAHA who am I kidding if you know me you know I don't give a crap what anyone thinks. lol In fact I got done with these and looked at them and tld my boyfriend I might just take some black india ink and flick it and drop little droplets on it. He laughed and said no. But that's just how I think. So, here's the pictures of it step by step. I added lots of fun texture to the canvas to give it some depth when it was looked at. I definately learned alot of what I do want to do to more in the future and what I don't want to do. Thanks for looking. And as always comments are always enjoyed. I even love those that say somethign isn't to their liking but that I did did well.

Don't forget only a few days left to enter your room to win a free clip it up and to invite your friends over to win some amazing goodies!

Trying out colors to see what I liked and the order they looked well in. I used 2-3 tones on each color to give it more depth.

Sofa Watercolor

So, sometimes I sit watching tv, just playing with charcoal and watercolors and freehand sketching just to be doing something. I just doodle alot! Sometimes I add color to it as well. Here's a page I doodled and then used watercolor crayons on and then white washed. I'll use it as a background for something. I never really have a plan in mind to be honest with you, but it's nice to have fun backgrounds readily available when I may not have time to create one. Picture's aren't the best as I was sitting all snuggily on the couch doing them, yes the boyfriend hates that I sit on a suede couch and paint! lol This background isn't my favorite by far, none the less I share everything with you people. Even the not so amazing things. It's got potential for sure.

Moving tutorial Thursday to friday. I got tomorrow off at last minute notice so I'll prepare better for a full class tomorrow night.
