New Finds

So, how frickin cool is this! I found this for only a few bucks in the clearance isle of Kohls. I'm in love with it. The old typewriter key look of it had me sold! I'm not sure if I will alter it or not! Now they did have a few others but they were just the letters K and E.. and what the heck would I do with those two letters? So I stuck with this one. Loooove it.

Oh and behind the hook is an old ceiling tile I snatched up when they changed out the ones at work. I just adore it's honeycomb look! I'm sure I'm going to make something out of it in a fun chunky frame, but it will need cut, when I get it cut then I'll use some I think for block stamping! Anyways, it has lots of potential as well.

Art journal Page 5

So, I sat down finally on Sunday evening at around 5 for the first time all weekend. I was exhausted from working all weekend at a garden show my company was in and getting together my business of Mary Kay... that's right the girl who has never owned a purse or worn much if any make up has begun to sell it. But I looove doing it. I get to meet so many people... ok back to it.......... but I knew I HAD to craft. I had to do something! Anything! I had the itch and need to let out some stress. I began working on my art journal page. This one like I said before was harder for me to do because it involved childhood memories and well.... mine or those I recall anyhow just aren't very good ones. None the less I had an idea to journal out that while it wasn't a great childhood, it's made me who I am today and I wouldn't have it any other way. Here is the prompt and a little tutorial on how I did it. Enjoy!

The prompt this time around is from Glenda!!

THE PROMPT: Childhood memories

(it can be something from your own childhood or from your kids, a memory, a thought...)

THE STUFF: Glimmer mists & paint (time to get messy!)

THE TECHNIQUE: silhouettes (can be black, patterned paper, anything goes as long as it's a silhouette)

I started out with my journaling on mini notebook papers. I made sure to spray it with a workable fixative so that I could do fun things on top of it, without the ink smearing.

I then put down some alphabet stickers and use some new Pan pastels over it.. do you all knwo how much I love these roung little things of goodness. It's so much fun wet or dry!

I then use more pan pastels along the edges that was a tad bit wet for some texture, some more fixative sprayed down and then I did some dripage of some tattered angels Mist. Added a few strips of super thin masking tape as well.

I then layed down a few Maya Road chipboard silhouettes and used some more mists over them.

I then added some twine through a fun clock charm I found in my stash of misc. things. And added one of the misted Maya Road Chipboards to the page.

I then stamped memories on the right hand side and put down some black india ink drops to get some fun messiness!

Stay tuned folks.. winner's of all of February's prize's will be announced SOON!

Motivation Monday

So, I've been in an odd mood lately. I can't explain it. My choices for Motivation Monday kinda show case this. There's a ton of fun bright spring colors, but then there's alot of fun darker hues and just over all funness (if you're new here let me clarify, that funness is indeed a word.) These images are defiantly showing how I've been feeling. Some bright and fun colors and then some muted funness as well. I can't explain it, but I've been lately all over the place creatively. My work this week I showcase to you all will show this as well. I've got lots of fun things to share with you all. As well as working on finishing up some of the bare journal I created.

Anywho I hope one or many of these inspire you! As they have all inspired me! All images and their original posts can be found HERE on my Pinterest.

Tutorial Thursday: The Bare Stuff

Okie dokie folks. I had a semi decent productive night last night. I've been playing around with an idea of making my own "bare essentials" (hmm can't think of if thats what their really called or not) type of albums. I love them however can't justify the costs. So, I decided last night to wing it and make my own.

The pages are 10x12 (this is the length and height before you bend it), cut from parchment paper, brown paper (the kind from the rolls), some kraft papers I adored and then lots of different large envelopes. You can see it all here. There's some legal envies and some document envies and then lots of inclusions. I used library pockets and pocket insets as well as blank time cards for these! Please avoid eye contact with the date on the pictures I took these late last night.. lol

Step one, after cutting everything, I scored everything, just to ensure easy folding and placement. I then marked dots every inch down the spine. I then took my Timmmy Tool and violently jabbed holes through it all taking out all stress i had on this little book...... ok, not really. But this pick is soo useful in this process.

Next I choose a twine I liked and threaded a large needed and began sewing my book together. Making sure to keep the beginning and ending Knots on the inside of the album.

Here is one of the views of it. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with this, but I love all of the options. Parchment paper, slick large white envies, used older document envies, brown paper... oo love it all. It'll be alot of fun to use different things on each page.

After I got it all sew up I then rolled it up and then rolled it again from the other side to make it nice and loose and idk, I just like it.. lol

I of course didn't have enough time to do the cover last night but I did add some friendly inking to get it all going.

My Secret White Trash Ways...

So, I've now been asked by three different people what webcam I use for my videos and what not. So, I thought I would share my secret white trash ways. hee hee  So, This is it! I have a long rod from my pegboard, a clip and the camera. I can move it along this 11 inch rod to show different areas of my desk.  Now before I did this.. I was classy.... I used duck tape to tape the camera to places to video tape. Before that.... hee hee I took some trusted Helmar and glued it to a peg board rod and then just moved it along the peg board where I needed it.. haha. i'm a mess btu I know it so it's okay! Why don't I have a tripod.... umm NO FRICKIN CLUE! I think about it, then I forget... lol. Simple as that. Anyways, this is the current set up if you want to call it that. LOL.

Ok so now onto the important stuff. I love this camera because it sits on a lap top super well and as you can see I have it turned so I can have it face on with me or face down for a project. I love this. It also self adjusts for clarity on its own. Which I love, not having to adjust it into focus. It was about 60 bucks (they go on sale for like 45 every other week), however it's a billion times better than the 20 dollar one. I promise you this much. I also wanted to give a shout out to Ustream. Because I love them. I can be live, and or record. I can make the recordings public when I like. Can even do recaps of them for "preview" like pieces. yes, a editing software would be super fun, but since I'm not a pro, it works well for me and is super easy for me to embed into my blog.

HAHAHAHA and for a nice other side note: please note, I took this picture last night! Check out my dated picture.. lmao. yes I'm just that good. I have a time machine.... hee hee
