Where I've Been....

So, after a cute comment on today's Motivation Monday from Kory. I thought I'd share another "Craft Donkey" moment. Now those of you who know me know I'm wired like none other. Always singing, dancing and bouncing around. Along with this great amount of energy I have, (I'm often compared to a bouncy ball or 5 year old), I also have those moment of WTF WAS I THINKING! If you've followed me you've read some of them. Like the wrong car ordeal can be found here: http://craftdonkey.blogspot.com/2012/02/ot-for-good-laugh.html

Okay, so moving on, we all know I'm a bit spastic and sometimes with that spastic artist thing I get a bit.. um spacey. Yes spacey is a good word for it. So, I had Friday off of work as I'll be working this weekend for a garden show we're having here in town... yay me. No really I'm quite excited about this. I was asked to be there and it's a great honor.

Anyways, we'll see if I can stay on track here. This weekend was lovely here. I went around opening window in my house. Now anyone with a slightly older house knows that sometimes u have to give the window pane a little bump to get it to open. Right?................Right. So, I was going around giving them a little bump opening them up... can you see where this is going????

I get to the last window the one above the kitchen sink. I give it a tap, and it doesn't pop open so I give it another but this time.. I miss the window wooden piece and put my frickin wrist followed by the entire hand THROUGH THE FRICKIN WINDOW!!! I kid you not this crap happens to me all the time, well not with a window but this sorta stuff. I was ubber lucky I didn't cut my wrist! I had swelling for about 2 days where your veins are along the inside of your wrist but it has went down a bit and now doing okay. And serious I must have just hit it just right because I'm telling you I didn't ninja wack it. Just a little bump on the wood to get it to loosen.

So, after the initial shock was over..... here's the kicker...... I pulled the blinds all the way up to begin cleaning up all of the glass.  And this is the part if you weren't laughin already at my mighty ninja strength you will be now!

THE DAMN WINDOW WAS LOCKED!!!!!!! No wonder it didn't loosen open for me! Story of my life I tell you. Anywho, I laid low crafting letting my wrist heal up a bit from the swelling and specks of glass that had got minimal damage to the wrist.

This would be also why there was no class on Friday! lol I'll do it this Thursday night. Going to play with how to make a bare album, with fun things like craft paper, parchment paper and so forth!

Motivation Monday: Playing With Canvas

So, I mentioned last week I have been playing with some canvas pieces for one of our rooms. I've never done a canvas before and find it somewhat nerve racking to be honest with you. I mean it's in my house........... as decor. The great that about "art" is it's subjective to the person viewing it. We could both look at an amazing painting done by someone completely famous, I could hate it and you could see something in it you love. Like I said beauty is truly in the eye of the one looking at it. Okay, I changed that a bit, but oh well. So, I began this canvas project thinking I'd just mess around with 3 12x12 canvas pieces that I got on an awesome clearance. I t all began while looking at some pieces at Target and thinking, geesh really 60 bucks! I could do that for so much cheaper. If only I don't let it get into my head that people will be judging it. HAHAHAHA who am I kidding if you know me you know I don't give a crap what anyone thinks. lol In fact I got done with these and looked at them and tld my boyfriend I might just take some black india ink and flick it and drop little droplets on it. He laughed and said no. But that's just how I think. So, here's the pictures of it step by step. I added lots of fun texture to the canvas to give it some depth when it was looked at. I definately learned alot of what I do want to do to more in the future and what I don't want to do. Thanks for looking. And as always comments are always enjoyed. I even love those that say somethign isn't to their liking but that I did did well.

Don't forget only a few days left to enter your room to win a free clip it up and to invite your friends over to win some amazing goodies!

Trying out colors to see what I liked and the order they looked well in. I used 2-3 tones on each color to give it more depth.

Sofa Watercolor

So, sometimes I sit watching tv, just playing with charcoal and watercolors and freehand sketching just to be doing something. I just doodle alot! Sometimes I add color to it as well. Here's a page I doodled and then used watercolor crayons on and then white washed. I'll use it as a background for something. I never really have a plan in mind to be honest with you, but it's nice to have fun backgrounds readily available when I may not have time to create one. Picture's aren't the best as I was sitting all snuggily on the couch doing them, yes the boyfriend hates that I sit on a suede couch and paint! lol This background isn't my favorite by far, none the less I share everything with you people. Even the not so amazing things. It's got potential for sure.

Moving tutorial Thursday to friday. I got tomorrow off at last minute notice so I'll prepare better for a full class tomorrow night.

Wandering Wednesday- Tape Funness (P.S. that IS a word)

I lead with this picture because HOW FLIPPING COOL IS THIS TAPE!! I am proof you can take me into any store.. and I mean any store and I'll come out with something to use in my crafting. These tapes... for instance. I got from.............................................(that's my drum roll)................................................................................................... Dick's Sporting goods! haha you can only imagine my boyfriends face when I'm standing these, staring, touching and in glee that I found athletic tape that's bright, fun and just up my alley! He laughed and said "really....you're not buying that?" in the form of a question. I promptly told him I am NOT BUYING.............. all of them! Hee hee however I NEED two of them!
I got home and just kept touching them, not knowing how I wanted to use them right away, I didn't think that was fair to these newly purchased tapes. So, I made three patchwork tag with them!! This & That: Art Journal Page 4

If you have an art journal, smash book or whatever you want to call it you shoudl really check out "A Year in the life of an art journal." I'm not normally one for prompts, afterall no artists wants to me limited! However, this year I have been following along and found that playing with the prompts and twisting them the way only I can, has been quite refreshing. Allowing me to think outside of my normal box.  Here is February's 2nd prompt.

THE PROMPT: My Favorite Things
ie: a few of the things you LOVE about someone you love. Can be alive or dead.
THE STUFF: Lists and ephemera
ie: have a few tokens from that someone? Maybe the cover of the CD with "your song" or a napkin from the restaurant you both love to eat at...
THE TECHNIQUE: Pockets
ie: Use pockets to store those "things" on your page

I took this challenge very little and didn't read much into it or give it much thought. The first things that came to mind, you know that voice inside of you that says "I could..." Well as I read these prompts, I just went with it, I read a line and wrote down the very first things to come to my mind.

This is a little box of collected things I have. Odds and end and just things that I found that I love for one reason or another. I have a few of these boxes, because I'm hopeless. Anywho, a few details on how I met this prompt listed below! Thanks for looking!

Also don't forget about this month's giveaway! There's so many great goodies beign given away for simply posting a picture of your crafting space as well as posting about me on your blog and getting new followers to say you sent them! Anyways onward to the art journal page.

I hit a two for one here: one of my favorite things: bottle labels as I shared with my odd wine labels I also adore fun beer labels and peel them whenever I get a chance. Not budlight ones, but the fun labels! I also loved that this fell into the "ephemera" category.

I went with a super simple page. Labels layed as a background. Some letters I've collected over time, made of different things. Also added a little envelope with a cute receipt, this page is a bit more personal so I wrote about the person I love ont he back of it.
