Brick Art Journal Page

So, I've been having a ton of fun with my art journals recently. I can't even tell you why but it's just been where I have been going when I want to craft. Enjoy.

I first covered the enture page in a nice thick coat of gesso.  I love the Prima brick stencils I picked up. I have both the positive and the negative of the bricks and I just adore them for using as a stencil with panpastels as well as with texture. Just wonderful.

I applied brown pan pastels and then sealed them off with a fixative. This enables me to be able to work on it without smearing it.

I then got a little messy. I did a few sprays of mists onto the page and then smeared them with a cloth. Then I sprayed soem watered down gesso onto the page and when it was tacky.. almost dry but not quite I took a cloth and rubbed hard. This smeared all the way through and gave me some bare spots in the brick wall.

Printed a quote I liked and inked it up with some pan pastel, die cut, painted and sanded a bird cage and put them down on the page

I then added a few quotes I also like.

Very sorry if the "F" word offends anyone, but afterall a journal can't very well be censored.

Nice picture of how gritty my poor hands got for this page.

Art Journal Page

I loved the latest prompt at A Year In The Life Of An Art Journal, so much so that I used the same prompt for a different journal as well. Everything I did is pretty self explanatory.

THE PROMPT: Nature is a wondrous thing
ie: use pics of nature

THE STUFF: Don't quote me on it
ie: use a quote or quotes
THE TECHNIQUE: Gesso & stencils ie: try something different and use Gesso on your stencils for texture!

This page was something else i began sketching on but then didn't like where it was going, so it's a great thing to just cover with some layers.

love the texture and this will dry clear!

Gelatto fun of course. The gel acts as a resist which I loved playing with.

spray with some water and then brushed out and then blotted with a cloth to get it off all of the letters.

I then sprayed the entire page with some watered down gesso. And added a tag.

Pan Patels and new Art Journal Page

Okay, I loooove Pan Pastels!!! There's this very nifty store here locally that I support as much as I can. Luckily for me alot of their supplies that I love, I can even find cheaper there than anywhere online!! Anywho, I go in there about every other week and buy 1-2 new colors. I will do this until I have them ALL!! If you haven't used any of these! WHY NOT??? This week one lucky person will win a black pan pastel! Just comment ans share on your blog with your friends!

Another great art journal page to come using pan pastels!
Okay, so onto a journal page A Year In The Life Of An Art Journal. HERE is the prompt.

THE PROMPT: Nature is a wondrous thing
ie: use pics of nature
THE STUFF: Don't quote me on it
ie: use a quote or quotes
THE TECHNIQUE: Gesso & stencils ie: try something different and use Gesso on your stencils for texture!

I used a very gritty Golden Course Pumice Gel. Love this stuff!!

After it dried, some gesso over the entire page.

I then used some great pan pastels. Blending some greens and yellows then some finishing touches. I didn't do too much "nature" stuff but I really feel as though the greens bring out a feeling of nature. I also reused my word of the year. Relax! Just to remind myself!

I'm also playing along wtih Berry71Bleu Challenges. you can check out their blog here:   http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com

Altered Wooden Box

So, I am a fan of Dollar Tree. I bought a number of boxes from there and then before I could get to it, Kory over there at Scrapiverse posted one of his creations using one of the exact same boxes. So, I was definitely inspired to no longer let them sit in the bag and get one done. of course I have about 6 different styles of them. What I did is pretty self-explanatory as you look at the picture tutorials. Love Graphic 45 papers! I just wanted somethign simple that onlu too about 20 minutes to make. Love it's simplicity.

I collect fortune cookie fortunes so I think this little creation will just hold them. Until I come up with some other purpose for it.

More Duct Tape Fun

So, it's never been any secret that I'm obsessed with tapes of all kinds. For my birthday one of my good friends thought he would get me some camo duct tape. It made me laugh, partially because I wasn't really sure I'd ever use it! But none the less I was happy I had it. Funny how that works. So, I decided that since I had no clue what to do with it, but wanted to use it since it was a gift I made something for the guy friend who gave it to me. I made him a clip board he can hang to hold pictures of his hunting trips.  This is just one of many posts to come playing with tapes of course!

Here's also also a journal page I created. Super fun with the duct tape on the pages that I then used my heat gun on to bubble a but. Then I tore the insides out of a mini composition book and then inserted about 6 pages that I wanted to write on and I wrote a little something.

I've been absent as I'm sure no one really noticed. LOL But I've been crafting and playing alot. In fact I already have about 12 posts ready to be posted after I add my comments to them. Also some great giveaways for some of my new fave products to play with.

Of course this is only a fraction of the tapes I have. At last count I have over 45 rolls of tapes. haha
