Play Time

I'm playing today.. yay.. working on a new Tim Holtz framed box.. one of the super huge ones!!! Very excited! Took me a bit but I finally got the boxes in the positions I like them... of course.. they are in no way close to looking like the positions offered or those I have found online... but I love it all the same! I love these boxes as I normally pull some out and put them into others for more dimension and giving deeper spaces in other areas. LOVE IT.

I like thinking outside of the box. And, well I'm loving what I'm coming up with. I have decided that I am going to use it to contain two of my children's school pictures. Their both great pictures and well it's the first time I've gotten two amazing pictures from one picture day!!! So, I decided to showcase them both within the same box... and use the rest of the boxes within it to well.. just play with and add little things about the kids in.

Here is a pic. of how I think I have settled with keeping them. I think by positioning their pictures on both ends I can use all the other boxes to showcase the pictures better. Hmm... still trying to figure out what color I'm going top paint or ink it to make it work with both the blue and the pinks I plan to incorporate. or maybe a white overall and then alternate some of the boxes with blues and pinks.. hee hee who knows..

Anywho, are you crafting or ubber busy with family functions this weekend? Let me know if you have any ideas you think would work here. Normally I just sorta wing it as I create and end up happy.. so I'm guessing that's what I shall do here as well. Just need to get the master colors figured out.

Tutorial Thursday

Ok, ladies. I'm always looking to create and use form my own stash. I'm oh so guilty of loving the newly released items but in order to make those purchases work.. I try to use what I have and can do myself! I have seen these flowers done with paper, fabric and soo many other things. Well, in the efforts of using form my own stash.. I looked around in some of my many many drawers and I had a few packages of cheese cloth. You know what I'm talking about right.. almost feels and looks like gauze, it's about 2 dollars for more than I can ever imagine using. great for crafts, cooking and cleaning. Well, I had some and decided to play with it. This is what I got.

This is cheese cloth!

This is what you will need. A glue gun or Helmar's 450 works well too with no burning of the fingers.. however.. I'm out! boo hooo. A piece of cardstock and Mist or watered down paint.

Place a daub of glue in the center of the cardstock. make a ball with the tip of the cheesecloth twisting it just a bit.

Continue to add more glue along the way, then twist the cheesecloth a bit and wrap snuggly around the center piece.

Continue wrapping until you have no more cheesecloth. I enjoy doing it this way on a square and then trimming off the excess so that I'm not pressured to have my measurements of the gauze perfect. I just like to wrap it along until I have a size I like.

Trim the excess behind it to your liking.

Begin misting the flower. I mist the flower afterwards so that I use less mist, as the cheeseclothes will take the mist but if layed out and sprayed you'd waste alot of mist.. as it goes through the mist onto the paper.. this way its concentrated on the flower itself.

Mist until your hearts content. This one I just did pink but you can do multiple colors.. maybe all over the flower or a two tones flower.

I then used some of this cheap wedding pearls. i like the pearl color so I won't be altering the color of them. Just clipping off the ends.

Add them to the center.... soo pretty! I love the look of the cheese cloth alot!

This another thing to do with the cheese cloth. Spraying it all and then using it as you like on a layout. I sprayed this cheesecloth blue and used it last night on a layout.

Funky Boy Layout

So, I sat down last night when I couldn't sleep and began this layout for my sons book. I love it.. very funky and distressed and messy and just well.. I love it! With all the great girl products out there I find it harder to scrap for my son.. but of course it still has to be done! haha I love to do it.. just sometimes find it frustrating.. this layout just kinda came together on its own.

I honestly didn't favor these pictures. However, I have learned as I'm sure many of you have that the older the child becomes the less opportunities there are for pictures. The simple fact he's in school all day.. makes it harder. Therefor I went ahead and scrapped them.. I liked them just didn't find them fantastic! Check out the pics!

Finally a good day to take some pictures outside. I adore the dirty rsuticness of this layout. So different from the pretty girl stuff I also adore.
