OOOOO What Fun....

Soooo, thought I would share some techniques with everyone! These are small pages from my art journal. None of these are complete.. as well I add to them over time. Hope you learn a bit and try these techniques out yourself. Their super fun!

I used this light molding paste for this first piece. i have fallen in love with the great dimension you can get form it.

Ok, so I sometimes have a hard time finding the right templates. I really wanted a flat brick template, however upon not finding one.. I did run across this texture cake tile. i was curious what I could do with it... this is what I came up with. This set also came with a woodgrain template! i hope to use soon as well on a layout I have in mind! They were super cheap too!

I did this to show you what it looks like applied just own its own on white paper. All I did was take some of the paste onto the paper and spread it with a small putty knife. Then laid the tile over it and applied pressure. Then pulled it up. It's MESSY but I like it messy and unperfect. The possibilities are endless. You could spray this or ink this... be sure to wait abit for it to dry well before doing any of these things.

I did this one in my art journal. I added some red n black paint to the paste to acquire the red color I wanted and then avoided putting pressure on one edge to make it peak less.... see below why I did this. It's ubber messy, however i will state this was soo simple my daughter helped with it... lol.. hence the messier aspect of it...  lol

This is it when dried and I added a quote I just adored. It still needs a bit more but on its start. I'm good at starting and finishing them later when i run across something great.

This is another type of paste.. only it feels like sand.. love it!!!

This is a normal template sheet. I used this with the sand textured medium. I painted the background black.. and then mixed some of the texture with pink paint.

I then spread it over the template where I wanted it. Use nice thick amounts. This way you ensure no stroke marks.

Lift it gently. Let it dry and then have your way with it. I love the texture it brings. LOVE LOVE IT. I added a quote I like as well and then well it still need some more done to it.. but I love a nice background to work from ready for me whenever I come up with something great.

I gave this background a nice splash of green paint and then laid down some painted tape carelessly torn. Spread the putty, and then to add more peaks I took a paint brush and dabbed it to get the look I wanted.

Pull up the tape when done.. there's a smudge here where I got under the tape.. simply take your finger and wipe it away.

Let it dry all the way and then I added some goodies to spice it up.

This and That

This post has no real direction other than to show some things I played with tonight. Thought I would share them.  Comment on this post and be a follower (not jsut by email-so that I can see u as a follower) and you will be entered in a chance to win these flowers!

First I love hot glue.. I'm not sure what the infatuation is.. I just adore it and all of it's possibilities. I have been using it to make masks for some time. Thought I would share with you all. The pics pretty much show it all. I use my craft mat, which withstands great heat. I just make a design... or what not and then paint or mist it! The pics pretty much tell it all. My mat is kinda small.. 6x6 however in the pics. You can see how I made a 6x6 mask to make a background. it's super fun and the option are nearly endless.

Here i just got messy with it with no rhyme or reason.

Don't be afraid to make words as well. One day I made all of my daycare kids names.. they just ate it up and loved it.

Simply mist or paint, then pick up the mast and a great little background!

See this could be used as a border, or being a picture or even as a fence! I save them and use them again and again!

Ok, so the other day when I picked up that adorable bird cage.... I also ran across these wedding pieces. They were like 20 cents per package.. I got them for 10.. hee hee.. Love a bargain. I had no idea what i would use them for but tonight began playing with them! Look below and see what I came up with.

Above are the little pieces I picked up.

I began first by making a cross out of the petal like pieces. Then squirting some hot glue down to hold them in place and move them as I wanted them. I did this all the way around until it was as full as I liked it. I found I preferred this as the "back" layer and then put the others on top of it.. final pics to follow.

These were the other petals. I followed the same directions as above. Glue int he center and then began moving them into a circle until I found a look I liked.

This is the same petals as above, however this time I turned them around. For a different look.

I cut these petals with more wire hanging off. I did this as I wanted a larger flower to be the bottom layer of a large flower.

This is a little rose I created from the petals. Just overlapped and glued. Very adorable.

Here are the final products of those flowers. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how they turned out! Let me know what you think!

How Cute....

is this!!! I found it while looking for plate holders at a local thrift store. Only .50 cents!!!! Just adorable! I've been obsessed with wire birdcages for a bit now.. and this one maybe stands 4 inches tall with a little bird inside! I plan on for sure changing the color of the cage.. but just had to share this very nifty find.

Challenge of the Week

So, I get asked alot by the gals I know and the gals I teach classes for on how to do acrylic albums. I've done a few but sadly no pictures of them. In efforts to find some motivation for the week of some new project to work on I stumbled upon this by the Hambly blog.

If you don't follow them already YOU SHOULD... great motivation and I'm obsessed with overlays/screen prints/transparencies. Just adore them. Anyone who has ever been in my stash.. has seen my 12x12 drawers filled with all sorts and kinds! Hambly being my favorite brand!

Here's a great link of a design team member who use the screen prints on her acrylic album instead of the traditional double sided paper or paints and inks. I adore how it looks!!! Going to work on a new album this week using some of mine!

This week I'd like to offer the Monday Challenge. Use some prints, overlays or transparencies on your layouts or cards or altered project. Email them to me (at sayitsbyu@yahoo.com) and at the end of the week I'll feature them all, So we can all gain future motivation!!!

ALSO REMEMBER: This week up for grabs for the giveaway is a very large assortment of Prima's Botanical collection! Check it out int he post Prima Creation!
